I am concerned that in the heat of response to world crisis that agendas are being created--and often rushed into law--that place the emphasis on the wrong end of the issues we are facing.

For instance, in the acquisition of vaccines, there is an implicit assumption being made that it would be better to use aborted human fetuses to make smallpox vaccines than to destroy the stash of biological weapons.

If we are serious about health and peace, the only sound policy is to eliminate the weapons rather than risk that someone might use these pathogens in an attack against human beings.

What "they" do and what "we" do are not separate. Disease does not recognize the uniforms or loyalties of individuals. Moreover, since we really are one global family, limiting outbreaks to specific populations is not possible.

It is time to surrender the arrogance that anything worthwhile can be achieved by making people sick. Eliminate the pathogens!

Next, in the economic realm, my concern is that in the fever to express our patriotism by obeying the President and fueling the economy by spending, some people may not be asking how this infusion of green affects the outcome of the economy.

If the economy needs support, then your dollars are a vote for or against which sectors of the economy you wish to see benefited by your hard-earned money.

If you want a wholesome world, perhaps you should support organic food and holistic health remedies. If you want freedom of speech, you might subscribe to news services and internet providers that work harder to guarantee these freedoms. If you use plastic, you might want to use credit cards that donate to your favorite charities.

If you oppose something like genetically modified foods and vaccines and the probability that vaccines will be secretly administered via the food (such as in bananas), then you absolutely must support local growers and boycott all the products made by companies that are part of the problem rather than the solution.

If you support peace, you must find it first in yourself and then share it with others.

Love and blessings,
